It's a hot one!

If you live anywhere on this side of the country you can account for how hot it's been lately!  As in, to the point of not even being able to endure the heat long enough to walk from the house the car, much less go anywhere outside.  B and I have tried to find ways to entertain ourselves, though.  Including making daddy a painting for his office (as a birthday present):

We also borrowed an ATV for a FD event...but of course, B needed to try it out first!:

There was finally a break in the heat today, so we visited daddy at work...

And afterward, a 3 hour nap...don'tcha just wanna kiss him?!

You know it was a good one!

Toes in the sand

We've been at the beach for almost a week now and Briley is loving every minute of it.  We were literally on the beach for 2 minutes and he was all about playing in the sand and "ooh"-ing at the birds passing by.  He loves sitting in the sand and letting the waves crash up around around him.  I'll probably blog more specifics about our trip in my private blog, but I thought I'd share a few pics, being this blog is about our adventures and all:-)

Here's B enjoying his first experience on the sands...

We've made a habit out of taking a dip in the pool, post beach time.  Here's a pic I snapped this morning before nap time, as B played with daddy...

Right now, it's almost time for B to be up from his nap.  The plan is to eat lunch and head back down to the beach.  If I get a chance tonight or tomorrow, I'll post more about our trip.

I have to take the time to say, however, that I am thrilled with how B has been with the water and the beach.  It is so relaxing to me, and a part of my childhood memories.  I'm grateful he is welcoming the chance to make more memories for us all.

I've been a bit behind on posting our adventures, so here's what we've been up to lately!

**My mom and dad kept the turtle sandbox I had as a child and my niece and nephew have played with it off and on over the last few years.  I was wanting to get some type of pool for B this summer, but really didn't want to pay tons of money for a blow-up one that the dogs would destroy in seconds.  So, being such awesome grandparents, my mom and dad gave us the turtle to use (and my niece and nephew gave the "ok").  We always used it, as children, for a pool, and not a sandbox as well.

So, a couple weeks ago, B and I headed over to Mimi and Papa's house to clean out the turtle (the kids had turned it into their "stew pot"), and enjoyed a day with Ash and JP:

At first, B didn't know what to think of the "green bath" since the water was freeeezing, but he quickly realized it was the COOLEST.THING.EVER.  Of course, the diaper didn't last too long, so he thought it was even cooler when he had a naked bootie. :-)

**About a week later we made a trip to the local Me.nar.ds to clean up the flower bed at home.  We love going there b/c B likes to swing on the the playground equipment.  Here's B on our way out:

And, in case you're curious, here's some pre- and post- pics of the flower bed:

B loved crawling through the dirt (don't worry, he did great at not eating any worms!) and just bein' a boy.

**As y'all know by now, Nas.hville was flooded recently.  Our family considers that place our second home.  Will and I would love to move there if we could (maybe we will one day).  Growing up, we always visited family there and loved going to Music.City.  So, when the news of the flooding came, you can imagine the heartbreak.  I headed up a collection of donations (both monetary and supplies).  We were planning to just load up our vehicles, but had so much that we had to rent a U.ha.ul!
We even had to still pile more things in to my vehicle, and then we were off!!

B was just awesome on the way down.  He slept most of the way, which was a plus.  Of course, it rained but my dad went along to help out.  Once we got there to unload, our friend, Suzy, came to help out as well!  She even took off work early!  We always love visiting with her:

I'm so glad we were able to help the people there.  And we are already planning on another trip!

**B also made out great from the trip!  I had bought a few items off of cr.aig.s.li.st, including a swing set.  So we picked up those items and headed home.  Here's B enjoying one of them:

So, there you have it.  Our past couple of weeks in summary.

Oh! But the big-ol' first birthday is coming up and there are ALL SORTS of cute things coming with that!  Can't wait to show everyone!!

Have a wonderful time enjoying your own adventures...whether far away or in your own backyard:-)

He's got...what?? Personality!

Yesterday, B and I needed to get out for some fun in the sun and away from the house.  We headed over to my mom and dad's house for a bit.

This type of adventure usually involves time spent with some of his favorite cousins (okay, so he loves them all, but J is seriously his favorite...must be a boy thing).  At any rate, my niece, A, has a barbie jeep and B has taken a likin' to being driven around the back yard:

He even helped J work on it:

Once we left there and headed back home, I decided it was too nice to head inside just yet.  So, we enjoyed a nice 30 minute walk through the neighborhood.  There was a perfect breeze blowing and people were out in their yards and walking their dogs.  Very peaceful.

Upon returning home, we planted our butts on the front lawn and I had some moments of pure laughter as I took some self portrait pics only to see B's personality shining through:

What started as a rough day for me, emotionally (all those girly hormones and stuff), ended with lots of laughter and love.  Something that B always brings to my heart.

First adventures in the backyard

I'm a bit behind on posting our adventures but here are a few pics to start us off:

Fun in the backyard...daddy realized how tall the grass got overnight when he saw this:-)

I'm hoping to get some pics from my sister of our trip to the park!  We are looking forward to a great summer!  Adventures to come so stay tuned!!
